Records show Singer paid $1.55 million for the Newport Beach home in 2012. Built in 2003, the 5,167-square-foot house sits on “one of the most sought after blocks” in Newport Heights, the listing description said, touting high ceilings, stone floors, a gourmet kitchen and butler’s pantry. I suspect that his next ‘house’ won’t be quite as luxurious.

I for one am totally burned out on this 'scandal'.

I see that some of the people are facing up to 20 years. Really? Twenty years in prison for a rich white woman using her money to get her kid into college? and some scum who kills a woman on a SF Pier walks because the liberals feel sorry for him?

Ridiculous

anytime an elite, especially hollywood, gets caught and faces prison, I'm for it, the longer the better.

...and some of these entitled fraudsters face 40 years!

Half of these places wouldnt have significant buildings on campus if they didnt take alumni donations to ensure their kids got into those schools.

The entire mess is full of hypocrites on all sides.

please let me help you out here.

when you give a large amount of money to someone and get something valuable in return, it is not a donation.

Agreed. Some of these illegal child molesters walk and are deported and show back up and these “elites”, while they’ve done wrong get more time than life wrecking crimes or murder.

Doesn’t Newport have the highest average home price in the world? I thought I read the average price for a single family house was something like 2.4 mil.

In 1971 we bought our 2 story, 3 bdr, 2.5 bath home at McArthur and Ford Rd. for 47K - we were the first owner and my friend tells me it just sold for the 4th time at 2.7 mil.

I think my parents were fools for selling that house and I told them that then when they thought they were making out like thieves for selling at 100K. I still ask my 92 year old mother what on earth possessed her to sell. Stupid. Now she’s penniless.

Yep, something is probably seriously wrong with the house like maybe it needs a total refit, new roof or something- 2.2 million is definitely on the average side. Nice homes in Newport are in the 3 million range

Then you must be smeared on the roadbed by the Russia scandal.

They aren’t facing 20 years for fraud and mail fraud which is indeed what they did. That’s maybe 3 or so years and they’d never be sentenced to that. The new charges issued today get into money laundering; eg; payment of bribe money into Singer’s charity; then taking charitable deductions on their taxes when they knew well that the bribes were deliberately masked to look like “contributions”.

That’s maybe quadruple or nothing, to the Feds, it’s as serious as a heart attack.

Somebody should explain to these rich liberal parents That Steve Jobs, Bill Gates Were college dropouts. Rush Limbaugh never went to college. How are they going to make a living without a college degree :-)

Of course, this is not about their kids, it’s about them. What would the neighbors think if they found out that their offspring was going to community college?

A 5,000 square-foot house in “one of the most sought after blocks” in Newport Heights for $2.5M? That has to be half or less of the market value of that property. Must have been a real fire sale.
