NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. A New Port Richey man has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge 18 years after the homicide occurred.
Officials with the New Port Richey Police Department said Randy Petersilge, 51, killed Simon Clark, 41, in 2001.
No arrests were made, but police said they had investigated Petersilge as a suspect in the case.
In 2017, New Port Richey detectives reopened the case and on Jan. 11, 2018, a grand jury indicted Petersilge on one count of first-degree murder.
Petersilge was incarcerated in federal prison during the time of his indictment and a detainer was placed on him. Upon Petersilge's release from federal prison on Friday, he was placed under arrest for first-degree homicide and is currently awaiting transport to the Pasco County Jail.

“Florida man”
Was he arrested while walking out of jail? Or did he commit murder while walking out of jail?
According to the article the murder occurred 18 years ago and he was just released.
When I see someone like that, I figure they have just given up trying to fit into regular society, and are fine with looking scary just to get attention.
Go way, way back in this man’s life, and he could probably tell you the very moment he just gave up on caring what people think of him.
Oftentimes, it has to do with some sort of betrayal.
That changes nothing about whether he is guilty of murder and needs to be locked up.
What is that?
Looks like a Romulan reject.

And he had a job lined up, and everything.
Most convicts have committed multiple felonies. They had eluded arrest and conviction on most of their offenses.
But it doesn’t say what he was in Federal prison for, or if that sentence had anything to do with this murder
I saw it a few times when I was a corrections officer. One guy, an Iraqi national. Was met by ICE agents at the main gate. He was deported as an undesirable alien the moment he paroled. He was led away screaming “but I don’t even speak arabic!”.

Man, that’s actually probably pretty close to what happened to a poor soul like him.
You read stories like that and wonder why somebody didn’t ever put their arm around the guy and help him out.
It’s tragic really.
Like you said though, not excusing what he did and he needs to rot in jail.
There were several cold case murders in the tiny town where I grew up that went unsolved for 30 years.
The guy was from 2 states away, only got caught when he came back 3 decades later to kill again. That’s when they finally got a confession out of him.
He’d gone undetected for 20 of those years because he was in prison in another state for unrelated crimes.
‘I saw it a few times when I was a corrections officer’
I bet you’ve got some stories. Society doesn’t pay corrections officers enough for what you guys do.
Here’s a few

A good thing he wasn’t on a ICE hold for murder, they would have spirited him out the back door and through the tunnel. Can’t have those evil ICE agent’s nabbing this murderer.
Geez Louise!
Looking at his conviction record of multiple felony assaults and 18 yrs for felon in possession of a weapon for the Feds plus homicide for beating a man to death,he is obviously a psychopath and would probably prefer prison life.
