How the human excrement got into the drugs was explained by Moreno. He said that it had to do with the way the drugs were being smuggled into Spain, saying that many drug mules put the cannabis in plastic bags which they swallow and then defecate the drugs out when they arrive in Spain.

You are correct. Makes no economic sense to smuggle marijuana like heroin.

A lot of it is how you define “Human feces.” A general bacteria category like Coliforms, or even E. coli (which has mostly non-harmful strains) are found on many plants and vegetables. 75% is high, so pot growing operations are clearly not sanitary operations.

A fine slurry of human feces is sprayed over the marijuana and allowed to dry. It is used to increase the weight of the product. An old trick. Adding dried, powdered feces was also used in the manufacturing of hashish. Any product coming out North Africa is most likely contaminated.
The quality stuff comes out of Lebanon and points east.
