Thank you for responses. The older dachshund was hospitalized for shortness of breath and an enlarged heart due to valve issues. He also has Cushing’s disease and seizures.
He did not win the genetic lottery, but he is my little buddy. He will be getting plenty of attention, if his brother will allow it.
