The EU Just Destroyed the Internet
Computing Forever ^ | 3/26/2019 | Dave Cullen

The EU Just Destroyed The Internet by passing legislation that makes it a crime to utilize anything that could be considered copyrighted material unless you pay a fee for usage.

Listen to the video, it'll explain it a lot better than I can. Post your thoughts below and whether you believe it will come to the USA.

I believe this action has already been attempted in the USA during the 0bama years and it went nowhere. Perhaps the Fair Use Doctrine had something to do with stopping it.

I doubt they are going to be able to enforce it.

The result will be fewer people will share articles and the creator ends up worse off.

I doubt they are going to be able to enforce it.

Of course they can't enforce it fully. It just gives them another excuse to arrest people.

I believe that this will hasten Brexit, and encourage Eastern Europe to leave.

Yes, I’ve noticed they put paywalls everywhere. And if you don’t accept cookies if you’re using Firefox it will crash your tab or the entire browser at their command.

Fine, just won’t read their website.

There are plenty more.

Besides the news is almost totally lies anyway.

Of course they can't enforce it fully. It just gives them another excuse to arrest people.

This goes right along with Ayn Rand's assertion that liberals want to make everyone a law breaker. That way they can select who gets prosecuted.

And Article 11 of the EU Copyright Directive is the “link tax.”

It’s about control.

EU is run by 28 non-elected non-accountable people who are to have no loyalty to their own countries.

Commission operates as a cabinet government, with 28 members of the Commission (informally known as “commissioners”).[4] There is one member per member state, but members are bound by their oath of office to represent the general interest of the EU as a whole rather than their home state.[3]
