First five minutes we take out leaders of China and Putin with nuclear blasts .

Do you think Russia folds because Putin is dead? In four years Russia lost 20,000,000 of their own fighting the Nazis. Twenty million. China could lose hundreds of millions.

America hightailed it out of Vietnam with 58,000 KIA.

America has never had to absorb massive losses. We've never seen our cities reduced to rubble. This experience would be new to us.

Has RAND’s “simulator” been “hacked” by the Chinese? Or the Russians?

And then along comes Barack who spends even more.

I am the last person in the world to defend Obama, but he didn't even need to lift a finger here - and the fair charge against him is that he didn't. The growth in debt and defense spending corruption was already built into the budget.

The other fair charge against Obama is that Arab spring was just as stupid and just as ill-founded as the Iraq war was. But it was the corrupt neo-cons who invented the whole thing.

There is no excuse for what Bush/Cheney did to America and they should be the first heads on pikes outside the Hall of Conservatism to remind folks what utter betrayal of principal looks like.

No need. It’s been hacked by the Pentagon’s support service contractors -the gift of government privatization that keeps on giving.

I think you’ve hit on it here. I bet RAND is modeling the customary rules of engagement where the US never advances with superior aggression once it has control of the battle. The use of smart weapons assures enemies the consequences of their aggression will be contained.

If I’m not mistaken I believe Rand Corp also instructed China on how to improve their missile launch systems so they wouldn’t blow up on the pad, while Bubba was in office.

Ah, yes. The mandatory “Recommendations” section at the end of the report. “Send us more money to continue this extremely critical research.”

3% additional spending tips the scales in our favor? I find it hard to believe that such a little bit at the margin could have such a decisive impact.

Clearly, you do not speak Washington DC-ese. What they are saying is the if the government handed over just a measly 3% of the military budget to this private "think tank", then they will make sure that future computer simulations go better for the US. *wink wink* Isn't it WORTH $24 billion to make sure that RAND doesn't have their computer games have those results for nobody to pay attention to???

You’re exactly right.

We are a divided country, and one side will do anything, regardless of consequence, to gain advantage over the other side.

And what makes it so much worse is that the side I’m speaking of are actual American Nazis, and they’re going to have to be dealt with in similar fashion as the previous Nazis.

Dwight Eisenhower, speaking to the National Defense Executive Reserve Conference in Washington D.C. on November 14, 1957. "I tell this story to illustrate the truth of the statement I heard long ago in the Army: Plans are worthless, but planning is everything."

Austrian Army Field Marshal Ludwig Ritter von Benedek: "No plan survives the first contact with the enemy.”

...Between the proverbial gun behind every blade of grass and the inner city gangs, they couldn’t keep the US secure from across an ocean if they tried...

Unfettered by "civil rights" organizations and stupid court decisions, an occupying force would make short work of inner city gangs.

Rather then think about the possibility, you would rather just give it to chance.

Not responsible!

Military theorists have “wargamed” in some form against potential opponents ever since people had a game to play!
There were wargamed out “war plans” against the UK & others well up into the 1920s. How likely was war against the UK going to happen?

Rand is just doing the job its paid to do.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAND_Corporation
32 recipients of Nobel prizes in physics & economics have been associated with Rand.

Unlike most government funded things the USG gets pretty good bang for its buck from Rand.

I’ve been there a couple of times in my past career.
A fascinating place.

If the war was being waged against free Americans in America, then yes, I would agree.

Well, maybe not if it was seceding Californians.

After all they’re socialist comrades.

These studies always amuse be because America is always playing on the road. We go to others homelands and fight there. How about if China and Russia took the fight to the US? The only way I can see a war like this come to fruition is if every American and allied satellite were destroyed in the first minutes. If that isn’t achieved then there will be no war.
