President Donald Trump targeted both General Motors and an Ohio union official on Sunday over an assembly plant that the automaker closed earlier this month. His tweet amplifies the public pressure on GM to restart operations at the Lordstown, Ohio facility. Trump has frequently used his platform to push companies to take his preferred actions. Earlier this year, he threatened to cut the company's subsidies after it announced plans to slash production at several U.S. plants. On Sunday, Trump said he spoke to GM CEO Mary Barra about the facility and "asked her to sell it or do something quickly." He claimed she "blamed" the closure on the United Auto Workers union.

They are moving production elsewhere but got lots of US government money.
Let them close it and refund the money. I’m all for that.
They should have thought of that 11 years ago.
I remember touring Lordstown in the late 60s.
They built full frame Chevy Impalas and unibody with front subframe Firebirds on the same line.

Micromanaging or justified recapture of targeted funds?
This is the aftermath of the dishonest and fraudulent “solution” to the automotive (aka union) financial crisis under Bush / Obama.
Obama cheated investors in favor of unions and gave us Government Motors.
Why didn’t that solution work? Why are other manufacturers thriving while GM is struggling?
Obviously, unions.
Apparently we’re going to implement an industrial policy in this country that is based upon the Electoral College.
Well, they chose to become a government company - so yes. :)
This is where Trump oversteps.
It is fascism to have the head of the government threatening and trying to force private businesses to do what the guv says at this level.
This is all about winning Michigan and Ohio in 2020.
If he does not do what needs to be done there private businesses are going to find themselves being strongarmed at a whole ‘nother level with Democrats in charge.
Lesser of two evils.
