The sparring between India and Pakistan last month threatened to spiral out of control and only interventions by U.S. officials, including National Security Advisor John Bolton, headed off a bigger conflict, five sources familiar with the events said.
At one stage, India threatened to fire at least six missiles at Pakistan, and Islamabad said it would respond with its own missile strikes three times over, according to Western diplomats and government sources in New Delhi, Islamabad and Washington.
The way in which tensions suddenly worsened and threatened to trigger a war between the nuclear-armed nations shows how the Kashmir region, which both claim and is at the core of their enmity, remains one of the worlds most dangerous flashpoints.

Take a look at the treaties and pacts that are in play.
I don’t know about them specifically, but i do recall that these are the main reason why two nation skirmishes turn into world wars
I am no fan of the islamofascist, but, in the case of India vs Pakistan, Pakistan may actually be the good guys in the conflict.
I suggest reading ‘Midnight Furies’ by Hajari. Niether side were without fault. But niether side were totally inocent either.
India doesn’t need any missiles; they can bury Pakistan in Indians any time.
If nothing else, it would be perversely satisfying to see the Third World suffer a catastrophe of its own making that could not be blamed on the West.
