We had these massive and expensive color laser printers at the fire department that I worked at. They were incredibly wasteful machines. We didn’t really print that much and we were replacing those $100 toner cartridges all of the time. The output was not that impressive, but it was nearly waterproof.

We do a lot of color printing, continuous ink flow systems were the most convenient for us when we were doing a lot of printing and the ink was a lot cheaper than toner. But I will admit that a little monochrome laser does sound very tempting.

When I was young my dad had a big copier that we could just pour more toner in. It needed other types of maintenance, and that toner was very messy but it sure was nice not to deal with expensive cartridges.

I’ll never go back to inkjet. Laser doesn’t cost that much more. The toner doesn’t dry out or clog. I think it’s much better for someone who doesn’t print that often. It’s cheaper and much less frustrating in the long run.

Interesting it is basically the same price, and the same size, as the Brother, but it also prints in color.

Thanks I will check it out thanks.

I had good luck with Samsung laser printers going back almost 20 years. I broke down and bought an HP all in one laser 2-3 years ago and have been pleasantly surprised with it. I always avoided the AIOs, figuring they were too complicated and would likely be unreliable. I don’t do color, figure I’ll pay at Kinkos or wherever if I rank need that.

Epson ET2650. No cartridges. You buy ink by the bottles and fill the reservoirs yourself as needed.

I have a brother 3 in one. Not very expensive, and a workhorse.

I have a Brother laser printer I got 5-6 years ago for under $100. Bought a toner for about $45 some time back and will just replace the printer when this tone is gone as the printer will be ...like totally obsolete man, if, like you know what I mean man... (channeling OAC)

I have the Epson ET-3750 that is on sale at Costco, like it alot and it has tons of ink (replaced a HP that was a low volume ink ripoff). Does copying, scanning, and printing fast and setting it up was easy.

The print quality is not photographic, but good enough to flyers, presentations, etc...

Works well for me.

I’m a fan of Brother. The last one I retired (10 years old) because I couldn’t get drivers for the new OS. It still worked. I now use an all-in-one and a color printer. Solid.

For the long run, a laser printer is more economical.

That water color ink is way over priced.

I print almost nothing and my Brother BW laser printer / scanner does well. It’s several years old.

My wife has a Brother 9340 color MFP and it has stood up to a ton of printing.

I despise printers to no end.

"good inexpensive lazer printers"

I have owned three Samsung ML-2510 laser printers for well over 5 years. I can't even remember when I bought them. They cost less than $100 each at Sam's Club. I've used dozens of cartridges in them, which I buy through eBay for less than $15 each (2 for $28 with free shipping). The cartridges last for a couple of thousand pages, so that's less than a penny a page for toner. In all that time, I've had only one bad toner cartridge (a smudge on every page), which I didn't waste my time to send back, and maybe a dozen paper jams which I fixed by wiggling the paper in the supply tray. I've had only one time that the paper jammed in the machine, and I fixed it by pulling the cartridge, and slowly pulling the jammed paper paper out.

All three are still working, but I doubt Samsung makes the same model any more.

I think I have the older version of your wife’s printer, the 9130. One for my home and one for my office. 4 1/2 years for the one at home and 3 years for the one at the office.

Wireless and no problems with the cheap paper I buy or the cheap non-Brother toner cartridges. It also doesn’t dry up when I don’t use it for long periods of time. MUCH cheaper cost of ownership compared to the InkJet printers I used to own.
