Me and all of my siblings got measles and chicken pox. I had a very high fever with measles. Wasn’t fun. With chicken pox mothers would expose all their kids just to get it over with.
“we were warned not to lose our shot cards ... otherwise, you would go thru the whole process again.
No one ever lost their shot card ... ever.”
Back the sixties I was inoculated against every damn thing imaginable, then again in the seventies when I went into the service. I still have my shot card, it’s in a little wooden keepsake box of memorabilia with items like my passport from 1964, my shot card, My Boy Scout card, and other stuff like that. For some reason I stuck in this box. But yeah, never lose it or you’ll have to get it all over again was the mantra of fear. And some of those shots would hurt like hell... gamma globulin was one I fondly recall as being extremely painful the day after.
