“In 1970 our college German prof, was telling us how much better made his BMW was than American cars. He was probably right.
After class it began to rain and as I was walking through the parking lot, I saw him trying to get his windshield wiper to work.
He saw me and said that it always seems to happen. He knew what I was thinking.”

In 1966 I visited my older cousin at his college in Utah, He was an army brat, and had graduated from HS in Frankfort, while hiis Dad served there.

My cousin old me BMW was the best car in the world. I had barely heard of BMW then. Yet three years hence, drafted and sent to Germany, the BMW dealer was on my walking path from home to the.

I didn’t get my first BMW until 1986, but we are now on our 4th. I really like driving them, but I prefer Audi quattro.

BMW does not make its service manuals and service bulletins available outside their dealerships. They do not provide the information to independent shops or individuals.

I believe Honda is another offender for its policy of "service manual secrecy".

On the other hand, Ford (and most other makes) will provide service information to anyone for the cost of the manual/CDs. And that is how it should be.
