The story of a woman who was fatally stabbed in December after reportedly giving money to a panhandler — a case that drew national attention and spread fear through Baltimore — was actually a ruse by her husband and stepdaughter, who have been charged in her death, police announced Sunday night.
Keith Smith, 52, and his daughter, Valeria Smith, 28, were arrested by Texas State Police, near the U.S.-Mexico border while trying to flee the country earlier Sunday, acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said.
Warrants charging them with first-degree murder in death of Keith Smith’s wife, Jacquelyn Smith, were issued, Harrison said.
“The information and evidence points it wasn’t a panhandler,” Harrison said. “People take advantage of Baltimore. We want to make sure the truth comes out and justice is done.”
Jacquelyn Smith, 54, an electrical engineer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, was stabbed to death about 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 at North Valley and East Chase streets, according to police.
Just days after the stabbing, Keith Smith and Valeria Smith, who also identified herself as Shavon, appeared at a tearful news conference at the scene. They blamed Jacquelyn Smith’s death on a man who approached their car after she reached out the window to give money to a woman begging in the rain with a baby. They said the man came up to the car under the guise of thanking Jacquelyn Smith, then reached into the car and snatched her necklace and pocketbook, stabbing her in the process.
“This girl actually said, ‘God bless you’” after the man stabbed Jacquelyn, Keith Smith said to the media in December.

I am convinced that the vast majority of these so-called “hate” crimes are hoaxes. The criminal mainstream media have given these hoaxers the perfect environment to commit whatever crime they want, including murder.

Hopefully we will pay attention to this story that “struck” Oprah’s “heart” that she hopes we are all “woke to change” about, to be “woke” to the fact that she tends to buy pigs in a poke (you hear me Stella?!) and that she would make a disaster of a president. Great media mogul, horrible elected official.

Oprah is no different than anybody else. She believed because she wanted to believe. It fit he world view so nicely. It reinforced her bigotry and racism. It was another Smollett moment in time....................

Unfortunately what is being taught now is that we are supposed to “create reality” with narrative and that if we believe hard enough we can make it real.
Personally, I try to restrict my narrative abuse to good causes, like talking people down from a ledge for example.
I think what the lefties are teaching with this goes a step beyond propaganda and into unmooring people from reality. That’s just not helpful. It seems to be having the effect of encouraging things like this Jussie Smollett mess rather than bringing people together in order to address real problems that get no attention because they aren’t “sexy” enough.
“The vast majority of...” I can’t remember seeing one in the news that did not turn out to be a fake. Some, like with Smollett, are glaringly obvious from the bfirst report. Others are done with a tad more perspective.
Democrats do not want to solve any problems at all. If they did, they would not be needed by the people they create the problems for, then blame the Republicans.
If I have a political party whose base is ‘poor people’, I’m gonna make damn sure I NEVER run out of poor people..................
It appears that she is the father’s daughter. She was the step-daughter to the murdered woman.
Probably money.
