Question to anyone....

Does Medicare Part D pay for the Shingrix shot (almost 100% effective) if Medicare Part D has already paid for your Zostavax shot (just 50% effective)?

I got Zostavax about five years ago, before Shingrix was approved.

Since these shots are really expensive, I am hoping someone at Free Republic has personal knowledge about this issue.

Thank you!

I was not aware of a second anything here. I got a shingles shot ($15 copay through retiree medical) a few years ago. When did this Shingrix come out. This new, news is a shocker to me.

I had to pay a $68 co-pay for the 2nd Shingrix shot with Part D, but I imagine that varies with which part D plan you have. Never had the Zostavax so I don’t know about Medicare paying or not paying for the newer and more effective vaccine.

On the other hand, I imagine if you ask someone who is afflicted with shingles if they’d pay $300 to make it go away, they’d find the money!
