Black Hawk chopper leads Border Patrol to illegal immigrants in Arizona desert

Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona used a military Black Hawk helicopter to track down and arrest immigrants who were decked out in camouflage clothing as they illegally crossed from Mexico into the United States.

Over the weekend, a UH-60 Black Hawk and UH-72 Lakota helicopter previously deployed to the U.S-Mexico border with National Guard troops were used in a remote area west of Tucson, Ariz., in order to give the agents on board a bird's-eye view of where people might be trespassing, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Military pilots flew the helicopters while Border Patrol agents looked for illegal crossers.

The two crews apprehended 10 groups for a total 75 people in the desert. Agents on board would guide other agents on the ground to where the groups were so that they could make contact. In some cases, the agents in the helicopters were "deployed to the ground to make the arrests themselves," CBP said. CBP said the people they arrested were not large groups of families or children but illegal immigrants who were avoiding detection because they were wearing camouflage clothing to blend in to the desert terrain. Agents said they chose to enter where there was no wall or agents around. The National Guard was first deployed to the southern border last April and again in the fall. Their mission was extended through fiscal 2019. As military and not law enforcement, their duties focus on infrastructure maintenance, vehicle repairs, camera surveillance, and aerial support, among other tasks.

Camo doesn't work too well against FLIR.

At least they’re able to enter safely... it would be better if we could just drop them off back in Mexico, but now they’re processed and will be lost inside the US.

My wife is from Matamoros. We’re doing the legal thing to get her across, and I spend a fairly large amount of time in that city. With thrift stores and flea markets abound, camo clothes can be had for a few pesos. They have mossy oak, real tree, US Army pattern, you name it. The same clothes and styles we have here they have there and typically for vasty cheaper. Going to Matamoros later today, as a matter of fact. I live a block from the border here in Brownsville.

Our puke of a new ‘governor’ (Evers, D, WI) just ordered WI Air National Guard troops back to Wisconsin. He wants NOTHING to do with border security.

We’re So Screwed. :(

Next bunch will probably have layers of reflective bubble wrap or styrofoam.
And when more of the wall gets built they will use more military grade equipment.

Flir is tough to hide from. I doubt the illegal alien go bag contains a mylar blanket. 😃

I agree with the screwed part. Which city elected him while rural WI went begging?

Then the ones the Blackhawk found requested amnesty and were welcomed and given driver licenses and registered to vote.
Build the wall!

Does the Mylar blanket hide the heat signature? Wouldn’t it still show up as an obvious blob on camera?

If you cover yourself with a lined mylar blanket and crouch down so it touches the ground you disappear. Even if your feet stick out you are giving off a heat signature like a small animal. There is a company in Idaho that makes a mylar suit. You put it on and disappear from flir completely.
