I retired at age 67 after 30 years sitting behind a desk all day. However I have always been a high-energy person, never a couch potato. So before I retired I bought a horse farm to keep me busy. I also take several trips abroad or cross country every year. Only spent one overnight in hospital in 77 years, and that was due to being hit head-on by a young woman texting while driving. Probably have some terminal disease as I write this, but I seldom see a doctor except for flu symptoms and such. One prescription med for Hypothyroidism. Hoping to live at least another year!

Depends on your lifestyle. One of my hobbies is riding horses. Don’t spend much time in their mouths, although it can be needed at times, but shoveling manure and hauling 80 lb sacks of feed or 100 lb bales of hay isn’t going to leave me crippled picking up milk.

High intensity training is good if one wishes to compete, or to try to max out one’s fitness. But for long & healthy life, walking briskly an hour a day gives most of the benefit with very little wear & tear on the body.

I like riding horses, jogging, hiking. My fitness needs are different from a competitor in most sports. I wish people would learn life-long habits of sustainable activity. Met too many former football players, or serious lifters, or hard core runners who gave it up by 30 or 35.

The bad thing was that my exercise program cost us $63,000.

Jewish comedians seem to be the longest lived of any sub-group. Everyone knows about George Burns, but Henny Youngman, Carl Reiner, Milton Berle all went into their 90s. The only exception I can think of is Jack Benny.

I ate right, exercised, didn’t smoke, very little drinking, and had a massive heart attack the day after Christmas. Coincidentally, I am one year older than my father was when he died of a heart attack. Our life styles could not have been more different. I have a newfound respect for genetics.

Mr. Benny was always good with numbers. In fact, he died at around 39 base 20. He changed the base to keep his stated age constant.

I like DeWars for Scotch and Jameson for Irish, every now and then I will treat myself to a bottle of Johnny Walker.

I have friends that buy a pint of vodka for 5 bucks. I don't think they are going to make it to 50.

Well...glad you’re still here! My maternal (skinny) grandfather died of massive heart attack at age 51 (while sleeping)...but he did smoke and drink. But, that fact among other family genetics have made me careful...

I’m 60. I battled 40 mph wind gusts during my regular 15 mile bike ride today. I’m heading out to Utah Tuesday to ski with my 26 year old fit son for a week. We will ski hard from 10:00 until the lifts close each day. There is no reason for us geezers to slow down just because we have a little age on us.

My group of people play lots of softball in the summer then volleyball and pickle ball throughout the fall and winter.....A number of them are now hitting the batting cage on Thursdays in preparation for the upcoming softball season.

Those who head to Florida for the winter are playing softball down there too.......
