I previously wrote how Brie Larson is a huge gamble for Disney and Kevin Feige - especially following the failure of Star Wars: The Last Jedi - and now the Captain Marvel movie looks to be in big, big trouble, unfortunately.
Back in January, following the NCAA trailer, it was reported that Captain Marvel was projected to have a massive $160 million opening weekend with some estimates even offering $180 million.
However, the bad news for Kevin Feige and Captain Marvel is that those projections have now dropped upwards of $80 million (note: article has been updated to reflect million and not percent), as it is reported the flick may only open around $100 million...

Maybe marketing a movie by being hostile to the fans isn't a good idea?
Perhaps they can go straight to streaming video.
Stupid crappy idea. A movie for nitwits.
Wonder Woman clone and Wonder Woman was just BLAH
Get Woke, Go Broke.
Brie Larson said it was a feminist movie and said she didn’t want white males to review the movie.
If you go see it, it would be a mistake. It’s probably worse than the Ghostbusters women’s movie.
I still think Marvel blew it by not having a couple of Cold War style spy movies with Black Widow, instead of saving her for Civil War. They wouldve beaten Wonder Woman to the screen as well.
But they have their storyline.
Not Linda Carter, she was SMOKIN! The last one I just didn't see the big deal over.
Why are not all the strong independent women not supporting another mary sue themed movie.
I think the marketing for the film has been very cool. The film is set in the mid 1990s and they came up a very clever idea of designing the website for the film to look like a cheesy geocities type webpage from the dial-up era, which looked hilarious and really plays up the nostalgia for people who were teens in the 90s like myself. The trailers for the film have been fun too, and the photo stills from the movie also show they did a great job of de-aging Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg to look like did in the 90s, since the film takes place well before Iron Man.

And how the heck can they tell the opening weekend is “in trouble” when the film won’t open for another MONTH? Did they jump in a time machine and check ahead to March and realize the future audience’s response was lukewarm and word of mouth will be bad in the future? Geesh.
Why just yesterday the propaganda for the movie was $100 million plus. Was somebody lying? Yup.
Beat me to it.
Solo broke the mold by showing viewers they don’t need to settle for lame, PC movies.
Hollywood is in for a real slap in the face very soon
This is brilliant! I love the “guest book.”
They have little ability to predict what box office will be. They can look at advance ticket sales, but that can be manipulated. That can data-mine Facebook and Twitter for positive versus negative comments, but that can be manipulated by bots, and also can be fickle.
Disney/Marvel decided they wanted to go full blown "SJW" and promote WAMMEN, over evil, white men. So they cast a raving feminazi who says that she hates men to play the role of a "Mary Jane" "Swabbi Marvelous", thus alienating at least HALF, if not more, of their potential customers and now they are reaping what they have sown.
Disney Rat literally hates us! So why in the world would we waste our money to pay them to denigrate us and spit in our faces?
Disney Rat can ROT!
“Mary Sue”, not Mary Jane, my mistake
I highly recommend the Doomcock YouTube channel. He covers the SJW debacle infiltrating Hollywood blockbusters (Star Wars, Ghost Busters, Star Trek, etc.,). Quite entertaining and thought provoking.
His favorite quote at the end of every video: “Stay Angry”
