So did they prefer provolone or cheese whiz on their steak sandwiches? Cheez Whiz is an abomination on a steak and never heard of in Mayfair/Tacony up until the mid 70's. In our neighborhood it was provolone...along with pizza sauce...making it a Pizza Steak. Tradition, history and outstanding combination of flavor!

Cheez Whiz is an abomination on a steak and never heard of in Mayfair/Tacony I must agree wholeheartedly, even though I hailed from the Italian Market, where that abomination originated, at 9th Shtreet & Washington Ave.
