We have them now. They are called "taxicabs".
Now, imagine what will happen when, by government edict, everyone will have to rely on taxicabs (or whatever happy sounding names they come up with). Sometimes, that system will work just fine. Other times, it will be absolute chaos.
There will never be enough cabs to handle peak demand. It's just not a financially viable business model. There will be forced ride sharing, so you might find yourself (or your kids) riding with perverts, druggies, or thieves. When a trickle of on-demand autonomous vehicles (cabs) start to show up at the concert or stadium, and thousands are waiting for their on-demand ride, people will literally be fighting to get into the first cars.
The proponents of such systems want you to believe that the cab will be there exactly when you want it. It's just not going to work that way.
What’s scary is that if one’s ‘Social Score’ as they call it in China is too low, they’ll simply be prohibited from using the vehicles.
