This is what you get when the Refs decide the NFC Champs

“Do you really think Notre Dame was a top-four team?”

Yeah, I do. 12-0 through the regular season, only to lose to the eventual national champion by a spread that was better than what Alabama suffered in its defeat.

Hatred of Notre Dame is so...unseemly.

“Sometimes, aren’t corpses laid to rest with their arms crossed over their chest.”

I hadn’t thought of that!

Also, some of the black New England players appeared to be clutching the top part of their jerseys.

Lowest TV audience since 2009.

Remember, the NFL is an entertainment event not a sporting event.. With these ratings, the NFL will adjust. I expect Belichek probably be “retiring”

There were two questionable calls in the Chief-Pats game as well - overturning the Refs call about a turnover on a punt and a roughing the passer call. I think that a Chief-Saints game would have been far more interesting. I guarantee you there would have been more than 16 total points on the board.

Yep. And as entertainment, it goes far beyond TV ratings for games. The NFL $15 billion in revenue might not be half of what the NFL generates in economic activity.

While that did happen, is this picture indicative of that moment? Why would you have a tribute for a fallen officer with 4:48 on the clock at ANY time during the game? Something there doesn’t pass the smell test.

Agreed. Watching the “illegal” reciever pick-blocks that opened Edelman on the Pat’s last two drives against the Chiefs show that the refs were allowing a lot of contact in favor of the Pats. Bigger markets, bigger $$$ (or so Goodell hoped)

I guess I’m old school. I sometimes kinda enjoy seeing what good defensive coordinators conjure up (and the players execute) to stymie what are both in this case obviously good offenses.)

The up the middle “two yards and a cloud of dust” plays are often not so exciting, but, overall, the chess game the sides are playing is on a pretty high level, at this level of competition. (Ok, so I used to play chess, knights and queens and all that, a lot!)

You are right. The Rams defense was great. Even when the Patriots made their adjustments, it was a fight to get yards. NE was able to finally get down the field and score more than a field goal attempt. Rams had that one drive but still never looked comfortable.

I lost interest in NFL at least a year before the kneeling started. One of the main reasons was the sudden realization that the refs can call a penalty on virtually every play - therefore they decide who wins. It’s all just a reality TV show.

The no call by the officials in the NFC Championship game was so obvious that the NFL has changed the rule with regard to pass interference...it is no longer a "judgment call" they can now video review Pass Interference.
