That’s not how it went down. First off, the Dems tried to claim that no nominations should be considered during an election year. Since every other year is an election year, that was ridiculous.
The Garland nomination was during a LAME DUCK year, when because of term limits, we were definitely going to have a new president.
In the case of Trump, he won’t be in a lame duck situation until 2023, so that point is moot.
Regardless, whatever party holds the Senate is the party that gets to decide on nominations. Hopefully our coalition can hold together.
