If Tony were half as good at football as he is at broadcasting he may have gotten to the Super Bowl... I think he’s found his true calling and that’s a surprise. I thought he would stink it up the booth the way he stunk it up the field when he was playing... Jones would likely hire him back as their QB though if he could... That’s just how crazy Jerry does it, losing year after year by keeping people he ‘likes’ around... Like Garrett... He didn’t extend his contract... If I were Garrett I’d just screw the pooch next year and teach Jerry a lesson.
Romo did not suck it up on the feild. He was just behind Staubach and Aikman for wins, even with an inferior team for most of his career. He was ripped off in Green Bay when his touchdown pass was overruled. He was one of the most accurate and clutch quarterbacks of all time and a class act
Romo ranks third in quarterback wins in Cowboys history with 78, trailing Troy Aikman (94) and Roger Staubach (85). Romo has a career passer rating of 97.1, which is the fourth-best in NFL history (minimum 1,000 pass attempts), trailing only Aaron Rodgers (104.1), Russell Wilson (99.6) and Tom Brady (97.2).
To this day I don’t know if Romo had “bad games” or if he was just unlucky. I look back at some of the guys he played with, and the lines were makeshift, usually including a LOT of older bargains and/or “never-quite-made-its.” Witten was great, but we now see that Dez Bryant was a cancer and NO team will have him.
Running backs like Felix Jones, Julius Jones, Marion Barber didn’t exactly help.
Then there was a defense that allowed Denver to win despite Romo’s offense putting up over 50 points.
