Yeah.
Tjhe only Garth song worth mention is “achey Breaky Heart”. Which is silly as all get out, but Country has a history of silly songs.
“Achy Breaky Heart” was done by Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus’s father.
Yep, both those songs are great. Loved Ghost Riders when I was a kid, early 50s.
Thanks for the link.
What a beautiful and heartbreakig song.
I'd add a couple more that hardly ever get much radio airplay:
"Long May You Run" (it finally got some recognition when they played it during the final credits of the movie "Miracle" about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team)
"Harvest"
"Winterlong" (maybe his most underrated song)
A list of seminal songs that led or enhanced genres would be interesting.
Like: Rumble (1958) by Linc Wray, considered by some to be the first heavy metal song.
Gotta give Poncho and Lefty a mention.
Kansas City. Another one about Dodge.
Pancho. It’s a nickname for “Francisco,” Francis. Some of my church members call my son Frank “Panchito.”
Thank you! So many greats!!! I grew up country music.. my first 8 track was George Jones. Too many greats to pick!!
I’m not a big Garth Brooks fan, but I always thought “The River” was a much better song than “The Dance.”
“Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind” by Confederate Railroad
“Daddy Sang Bass” by Johnny Cash and June Carter
Anything by the great Charlie Daniels
“God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood
“American Soldier” by Toby Keith
“Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue” by Toby Keith

That was GREAT commentary!
Thank you for posting that link!
Wow, that’d be great to hear! Elvis did some great Rockabilly and Blues songs.
I agree, Charlie Daniels should have been included. “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” brought virtuoso fiddling back into country radio.
Ghost Riders is where The Doors got Riders on the Storm from.
Agree on Pancho and Lefty. But has no one ever heard Gary Stewart’s “She’s Acting Single and I’m Drinking Doubles” or “I’ve Got This Drinking Thing to Keep from Things?” Alan Jackson’s “Remember When”. “Where Were You When the Stopped Turning?”
