Former Attorney General Eric Holder called for impeachment proceedings to begin if a report from Buzzfeed News saying President Trump directed Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow during the 2016 presidential campaign are true.
If true - and proof must be examined - Congress must begin impeachment proceedings, Holder tweeted Friday.
[William] Barr must refer, at a minimum, the relevant portions of material discovered by Mueller. This is a potential inflection point, he added, referring to Trumps nominee for attorney general.
Holder, who is reportedly considering a 2020 presidential run, has cast himself as a staunch opponent of Trumps, particularly over the White Houses sprawling legal entanglements.
The BuzzFeed News report says that Trump met with Cohen, his former attorney and fixer, at least 10 times to discuss the tower while maintaining to the public that he had no business ties in Russia. Two law enforcement officials told Buzzfeed News that the president backed a plan for him to visit Russia and meet with President Vladimir Putin to begin negotiating the projects construction.
Make it happen, the report says Trump told Cohen around the time.
Cohen admitted in November to lying to Congress about Trumps Moscow property plans. He made the false statements while testifying before two congressional intelligence committees in 2017.
He reportedly told special counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading an investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016 and obstruction of justice, of the pressure to lie.
The report was met with swift reaction from a number of Democrats who demanded answers, with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) saying, We will do whats necessary to find out if its true.
Cohen was sentenced in December to three years in prison on multiple charges, including lying to Congress about the Trump Tower Moscow project.
Not that I think there is anything to this at all but I have been searching the interwebs to see if “Subornation of perjury” is even a felony.
Five year max. sentence.
Note that the Constitutional standard includes misdemeanors.

I know the penalty but is it a felony?
If the maximum penalty is more than one year, it is a felony. That’s the federal definition.
Ok, thanks.
You got it 100%.
What happens when we don’t go quietly into that good night?
Funny how the democrats wished for, and then got war, 1861-65... And this new crop of democrats? Will they get their wish, too?
Also, see my tag line.
Mueller's people threw cold water on the Cohen revelation reported by Buzzfeed about Trump asking him to lie or "suborning perjury to obstruct justice" as you called it. Mueller's team said it never happened.
Again Buzzfeed caught in a lie and Trump comes out smelling like a rose. Why does that not surprise me?
Maybe you should embrace my approach to all this media stuff that turns out to be not true.
Don't believe a thing you read or hear in the liberal media. It's all false reporting and/or fake news. 24/7 we hate Trump stories they make up.
Remember Buzzfeed claimed they didn't have any direct evidence of this "crime". That makes their story suspect to me from the get-go.
IOW, proceed with caution when you read or hear about these things that sound too good to be true. Nothing is as it first appears.
