Nice, I remember as a kid salivating over a local kids Mustang just like that, except blue with white stripes.

In ‘67 they were all bias ply tires. You really had to know how to drive back in the day.

Stop selling Ken & Barbies, ship the single doll with both sets of bits the kid can snap on, depending on how the doll identifies that day, name it Ben. Kids can grow up to be a gender reassignment surgeon.

Nope. I bought a ‘69 Mustang Sportsroof (fastback) that the PO had campaigned as a hobby dragster. He put a built 351C and C4 it it replacing the mild 302 and FMX. He also traded the stock 8 inch rear for a 9 inch Dana Spooler geared to 4:11. He stripped the interior out of it.

I’m in the process of restoring it back to near stock (kept the 351 but replaced the C4 with an AOD and the Dana spooler to a period-correct 9-inch).

Right now it’s in the garage where I’m replacing the entire front end (both steering and suspension). While I’m at it I’m adding Wilwood disk brakes.

I’ve scoured the Internet for interior pieces and will add things like new door glass (1969 Mustangs came with glue-in door glass - one year only).

It’s not a Shelby - or even a Mach 1 but even in rough condition it’s a head turner and it goes like a raped ape!

“I just looked up the median family income in 1967.It was $42,000, far more than I expected. $5,000 was about 9% of average income, so that sure seems affordable. One heck of a deal he got, for sure.”

Not so. You are looking at an inflation-adjusted number, not the actual income then. The actual number was $6,155... and now we know why they shelved the idea of a $7,500 car.

The result was a Mustang coupe that could hit 170 mph and averaged 142 mph over 500 miles at a high-speed track in Texas where it was running on a set of Goodyear’s new whitewall Thunderbolt economy tires.

I’ve hit 125 in my ‘69 but vowed not to attempt it again until I do something to firm up the suspension - it’s too flighty!

Weird how they call it a ‘coupe.’ In the mustang world a coupe is not the same as a fastback/sportsroof/2+2. Shelbys only came in that body style until ‘68 when they added the convertible. No Shelby coupes were built, as far as I know.

I hadn’t noticed that and you’re right - no Shelby coupes.

Back before he was known to be a serial rapist Bill Cosby used to be considered a funny guy. He was a car enthisiast who owned several exotic sports cars and was once was given a Shelby Cobra Super Snake (yes, a cobra not a mustang - different car but still sort of related). It was one of, I think, only two such models Shelby ever produced. Cosby made a comedy bit about driving it. He was terrified the whole time, totally unable to control it. Of course, he played it for laughs effectively but the truth is, he really did call Shelby and told him to take it back.

When reading this article they referenced the 428 CID engine was replaced with a racing 427 CID engine. I was eager to see how they had managed to stuff a 427 SOHC into a ‘67 chassis but quickly observed that they were referring to a 427 wedge motor. To me, I’ll always remember the Ford 427 as the “cammer” since it was the superior engine.

Lol! Snap-on 'bits'. Great idea for this new "progressive" world of today! But I think a more "gender-neutral" name for it would be better suited. For example, "GI Jean", "GI Jordan", "GI Julian"...

Thanks. That seemed like an awfully high number. Your number makes a lot more sense.

It’s surprising how many people these days are willing to spend their full annual income on a car. Times have changed.

Bill Cosby Owned a Shelby Cobra Super Snake, But Was Too Much of a Wuss to Drive It

May 23, 2015

Bill Cosby Owned a Shelby Cobra Super Snake, But Was Too Much of a Wuss to Drive It, Bill Cosby is a garbage human being— let’s get that out of the way. He used to be one of the most beloved men on TV. He used to be a well-respected stand up comic. And he used to own a 1967 Shelby Cobra Super Snake. You know, before he was sexually assaulting women (allegedly). ..."

The 427 NASCAR cammer that they ran at Le Mans scared all the drivers they had except for Mario and Lloyd Ruby. Ford had to bring A.J Foyt and Dan Gurney for testing.

Depends on Per-household or per family. Between 7,200 and 8,000 instead of what you suggest.
