The throw left Trevor Lawrences hand at the Clemson 12-yard line in the first quarter of the College Football Playoff title game on Monday night. It landed in receiver Tee Higgins hands on the Alabama 45-yard line, the first dazzling completion for Lawrence on a night defined by them. But it wasnt just the pass to Higgins that left jaws agape, NFL front offices drooling and the Alabama defense backfield shredded. It was the way the ball left his hand as if it were shot out of a laser gun, whistling 43 yards with barely any arc and somehow managing to arrive softly into Higgins hands. It was a throw that few college quarterbacks can make. It was a throw few NFL quarterbacks can make. And it was the first sign of an arrival for the ages. The sun has officially risen on Sunshines career, as Lawrences golden locks will frame the face of college football for the next two seasons. At age 19, after just 11 college starts, Lawrence is showing the promise of a generational talent at the college level and a transcendent prospect at the next level. He looks like an NFL quarterback, texted one scout on Monday night, right now.

I am ignoring TV. Who won?
Clemson put a beat down on ‘Bama.
Tigers Topple Tide. 44-16
Redemption for Notre Dame? 44 to 16 is a pretty good beat down.
The Alabama defenders after the game called him a 50/50 quarterback at best and gave most of the credit to the receivers who had to make good plays to catch his passes.
getting lucky takes at high level sports takes some skill. It takes skill to put yourself in a spot to get lucky and it takes skill to recognize luck and not letting it get to our head.
That was the #1 problem with Kapernick. He only remembers the lucky plays and thought it was his skill alone that made it happen.
He was never as good as he believed he was, thus he ended a career on a sour note. We’ll see how it goes with these fellows.
Why not 2019?
Is this written in English? Or is it an English knock off?
You cant be drafted at 19 in the NFL
He will never make it out of college. Unless he goes for three Heismans.
Rules, schmules.
That was a tough read.
From the first sentence. I wondered, ‘Taylor Lawrence is left handed?’
And this:
“Peeking ahead, its almost unfair that the most talented quarterback in college football in a decade has the most decadent skill players in the game.”
??
No idea.
Watched the first half at a friend’s. Second half, I got home to find out the college championship is not on network tv. I have to purchase a different channel set for one game that’s a rip off. I’m a girl. I’m not interested in spending like that
It was a great performance. The kid is amazing.
It has English words but no. It is this journalist’s own language.
Kaepernicks problem was that he had an America hating Egyptian girlfriend who enticed him to kneel during the playing of the national anthem, which she, as an enemy, understood better than most fans and all the football muckity mucks, to symbolize our flag and our national identity.
This qb doesn’t look too athletic, rather dorky. That’s ok though. Looking forward to seeing him play next year. Hard to evaluate when he has all that top notch support.
Bama’s pass defense shouldn’t even raise their heads, much less utter a word. “Terrible” doesn’t even begin to describe their performance.
They have been bad all year. They have been exposed for three consecutive games. Credit to Clemson for great preparation. Bama didnt know what hit em. Dabo pulled a Gene Stallings on Saban. (When Dabo played for Bama and exposed Miami. Miami didnt know what was coming on each play. Great coaching!)
Congratulations to Clemson and Roll Tide!
Translation: It was the Black receivers not the white quarterback that won the game - OMG, identity politics at its worse
Alabama did not play ND in the semifinals. Actually, last night’s result shows ND was pretty legit too, just that Clemson was easily the #1 team this season.
Lawrence is unreal.
