This is not an “authentic” complaint until blacks refuse to have white firefighters save their homes when they’re burning down.
thank God for those fire fighters down there but be assured they all made a HUGE amount of money.....which is why so many firemen from other states take these assignments...
Watch any movie or TV series with womyn fire fighters. Every other one does, carrying a 200 lb white fireman under each arm.
I have to read some Thomas Wictor books to see if there is any record of female flamethrower units.
;)
Now it is true Ronald Reagan had the stones to send the California National Guard to Berkeley when the city and U of Cal proved unable to control the ‘Peoples Park’ rioters in 1870, I think. That was a real street battle and Reagan made it clear he expected the CANG to win the fight no matter what had to be done. They did and inflicted hundreds of pretty severe injuries on the mob and there was unfortunately only one fatality among the mob. The state won the fight leaving the libs whining and crying about brutality. I knew then RR was the man I wanted to be President.
Concur. I believe that you have to be a firefighter before you can take the exam for captain status. A couple of my gym buddies were firefighters, and the brother of one of them didn’t score well enough on the exam to be promoted. He took the test twice.

YES! forest fire fighters are VERY SPECIAL people!
Growing up in the Upper Midwest in the '60's I had occasion to volunteer to help with peat bog fires. Hey, it was a few days off school as an excused absence!
The peat fires were a recurring issue and they mostly just let them burn as long as they didn't get too close to homes or farm buildings. But they would ask for volunteers at the schools when need be so a half-dozen kids would pile into somebodies pickup and off we went. They would have some experienced person supervising us greenhorns (he probably drew the short straw that morning?), give us five gallon water cans with squirt nozzles and send us off to do battle.
It was classic whack-a-mole stuff. You would see a curl of smoke coming out of a spot so you run over there....-squirt- -squirt- -squirt-. Maybe it would stop and maybe not. One of the kids would have an adz and try to dig down to find the fire which sometimes helped and sometimes just gave the fire more oxygen. Pretty soon another wisp of smoke would appear and you run through the sometimes firm ground and sometimes knee deep mud and ooze: -squirt- -squirt- -squirt-. Not sure we ever did much that was useful but you gained an appreciation for the guys who actually did that as an often part-time career. They are built of firm stuff.

Harvard Business Review has long since lost the plot. It's about getting an important, life saving job done, not checking boxes on a goals memo created by some snowflake who would never step up to the task at hand.
“Human Resources Roundtable Association”
That explains it all, HR is some of them most useless of people and the worse thing companies ever created.
What they really want is those six figure pensions at age 5o.
I was thinking the same thing.Put that crap right back on them.LOL
Congratulations on using the phrase “begging the question” correctly. Too many people now seem to think that it means to raise a question.
Oh, I don’t know. I fought fires in the 70s and 80s, including several seasons on a hotshot crew, and it wasn’t really superhuman stuff. It could be dangerous at times, but I’d certainly never call it comparable to combat.
Lots of fun, mostly.
Not true. There are plenty of Black firemen, and that is a good thing. Hiring women to meet a quota IS a problem that will result in deaths.
Actually, the harvard idiots would rather have Black people burned to death in a fire while screaming for their lives, than have a staff of fully qualified firefighters, all in the name of “diversity.”
Crews of Native American firefighters are flown into wildfire areas all over the country every summer as well.
Here in NJ this whole discussion is really about wealth re-distribution and gubmint jobs; the paid fire departments are holdovers from our manufacturing days (when big corporations paid for much of the services), and now most firemen sleep all day in firehouses at the taxpayers’ expense. They’ve resisted regionalization and combining with EMTs because their unions are strong, while there are simply not enough fires to justify them (that is why often the firebugs are volunteers trying to get on or create paid departments). Not only have they lowered the bar for affirmative action applicants, but in my town they were forced to open the process to residents of neighboring Newark NJ - while Newark is allowed to keep its residents-only policy. This is just about maintaining the myth of a minority middle class, nothing more; the work itself isn’t even factored into the equation, just the economic outcome.
Been there done that, not many.

Thank goodness you never got into a bad one.
Off the bat, from someone involved in fire service recruitment and training for over 25 years, it was extremely difficult to find qualified other-than-hispanic minority candidates for firefighter positions...
Generally, this was due to drug use, criminal history, and the simple fact any candidate who was qualified could often make up to twice the starting wage of firefighter in private business...Private entities have their racial hiring quotas as well...The job of firefighter could not compete...
Firefighting is a dirty, dangerous, and extremely strenuous job that requires a quick mind, sound judgement, and is for self-starters, despite popular misconceptions of what we do...
And in comparison, a 9-5 desk job where a minority person can get away with doing little or nothing (because of, you know, accusations of discrimination and/or “That’s Racist”) often looks very appealing...
