There was no anti-Semitism in Mussolini's Italy, in fact, there were plenty of Jews in Mussolini's government, that was until 1938, when the Nazis demanded that Italy adapt Race Laws as a pre-condition for joining "The Pact of Steel".
Speaking of which, Stalin had no love for the German Communists, he pretty much turned over the list of all German Communists to the Gestapo.
Stalin was fearful of a Communist Germany, because ultimately they would be a threat to Moscow’s dominance of the Comintern.
I have been reading her Twitter page. Good Grief, the depths of stupidity have no bottom!!!!!
Oh yes— that certainly was true. Stalin’s networks in E. Germany were later comprised of those who escaped his notice during the War. The story of Stasi head, the Prussian born Marxist— Mielke and the interesting character of Markus Wolf.
The Stasi in E. Germany was much worse than the Gestapo, from all the files released after re-union. Mielke was a perfect Prussian type— a cop... but a RED cop.
Note the Soviets didn’t lift a finger for Ernst Thälmann, and after the war, they got a good “martyr” out of the deal.
Also Walter Ulbricht ratted out his fellow Communists to the Nazis, and then fled to the Soviet Union.
Now Mosley is a fascinating character. One of the best political orators I’ve ever heard.
But the problem with people like this, is that they are very good at articulating what the problems are, but are very vague about their solutions. And usually the cure is worse than the disease.
Very true in Mosley’s case!
LOL, the Nazis did have a better “sense of fashion” (I think that may have been Ann Coulter who derisively said that!)
All seriousness, as bad as it was in the German Army, at least if you had gotten captured and made it home, they wouldn’t throw you in the Gulag like the Soviets did.
Shameful.
Hitler's Germany, where if you expressed support for the regime or kept your mouth shut, you probably wouldn't be bothered. In Stalin's USSR, staying silent was no guarantee that you wouldn't one day disappear, and even those fanatically loyal to the regime could be arrested and shot or sent to the Gulag.
Although Jews would have been better off in the Soviet Union, they would have found plenty of repression there, and toward the end of his life, Stalin appeared to be preparing a Final Solution of his own.
In the Soviet Union, they kept track of how many people you denounced. The fact that you didn’t denounce anyone, made you suspicious.
A Eastern European I once knew who survived both Nazi & Soviet occupation described the difference in their oppression.
“The Nazis just wanted you to work & be quiet. They didn’t care what your personal opinion was about the occupation. The Communists likewise wanted you to work & be quiet but also believe the occupation was good for you!”
Communism is just Nazism with better PR.
