I work in cybersecurity, mostly as an auditor and penetration tester. I will not allow any Alexa / Echo or other listening device in my house - period.
We have to put our cell phones in a lock box before we enter some areas (people with last name Clinton exempt of course).

While I was working as a Customer Service Rep, and not ever having been in any Tech position, I would still tell folks I knew that I wouldn’t have anything in my house or car that could listen to me.
It is just staggering how people in general believe that nothing that they can, or watch will be known by the government unless they want the government to know about it.
I tell folks, “if it can hear you, it can spy on you.”
Still, cannot get the folks to accept that as a possibility.
Sigh.
