IIRc, Mercedes does something similar................
I’ll try to keep this one short. An elderly lady I knew and a homegrown Tarheel, was married to a German fellow who immigrated to the U.S. after the war. After many years with her husband, she became quite fluent in German albeit with a bit of a Southern twang.
Anyhow, she had been driving Mercedes vehicles (her husband’s vehicle of choice) since getting married many, many years ago. In her early 70s, her husband passed. A year or two later, she began having issues with her latest car (at the time only about 3 years old). She took it to the dealer, they “fixed” it and a few weeks later, she was back again to get it fixed... again. She returned a number of times and each time, the dealership grew more frustrated. I don’t recall what the issue was, but it was legitimate, they just didn’t know how to solve it.
Finally, she had enough and sent a letter to the President/CEO of Mercedes over in Stuttgart. A week or two later, she gets an overseas call and has a long conversation with him in “her” German (as she called it).
Another week passed, and a Mercedes transport truck pulls up in front of her house with a brand new E-Class.
Pretty classy move.
So does “Overhaulin” on History Channel.
