Glenn Beck takes to heart that admonition in Matthew’s gospel:

Not to disparage what may have been an authentically good-hearted gesture, but: you don’t know who you are doing this for, or whether the purchase was a wise one for their situation, or not.
I’ve always preferred the stories of the anonymous benefactor who throws a Krugerrand into the Salvation Army bucket ;-)
