Omaha Steaks appeals to older people that cant get out. My mother in law used to send us Omaha steaks and everything else that she saw an ad on TV for. You cant complain about the quality of meat to a little old lady who sent it to you as a gift. All we could say was Thanks Granny! Theyre the best! So shed send it again and again.
I remember their pitch in my kitchen...
“How much do you spent every week on groceries?”
“About $200”
“Well for that $200 you could have restaurant quality meats and produce”
“You are aware that I buy more than produce and meats at the store, yes?”
“But you’re not getting restaurant quality meat for that price”
“Correct, by the looks of it under your plan I’ll be doubling my grocery bill which I can’t afford.”
“But you’re...”
“.. get out.”
There a butcher shop near me with very fresh meat. So fresh there’s a pallet of cow hides in the barn
As with any meat product an individual cut may great or riddled with gristle.
Overall quality is ok... value for the money is fair. You can get better steaks elsewhere at comparable prices
Never ordered them as they look too perfect as if genetically modified in the lab.
Just to damn perfect, steak is animal flesh and therefore cannot naturally be so perfect, so flawless, so symmetrical, something fishy going on in Omaha...
We got the steaks as a corporate gift once. They were tasty, but we’d never pay those prices ourselves.
Compared to our local (family-owned) supermarket, their meat is mediocre at best and definitely over-priced. The apple tartlets aren’t bad though.
Thanks all....obviously, I’ve hit a nerve..*smiles*... bunch of steak munchers here, Thank you all again
I get great quality meats at my local meat market for a lot less money.
Indeed they are! But, if one is going to spend the dough to get Omaha steaks, one had best consider how to properly dispose of the styro coolers that will begin to pile up and pile up and so on...
I had to politely ask my friends to stop giving me their coolers for that very reason.
Generally very good tasty products. However, very expensive especially when you throw in the high cost of shipping. Once a customer, they chase you endlessly via mail, email and phone. I have them caller blocked on my phone. Maybe if they cut back on their advertising costs they could offer more affordable food.
OS several years ago pulled all advertising off Rush when he had blurted out that some lamebrain lefty female was a prostitute or some such thing. It was a big deal on FR. I got an apology from their CEO but when I never heard that they would fire the marketing head I stopped buying. Now a friend gifts me every year and I just leave it to avoid bad vibes. Meat is not top notch.
I used to buy them until they made the gay-couple kissing ad. No more.
You can get better quality from other vendors
We just put a whole one up in the freezer a week ago. It will last us a year or two.
No mail order. No high prices.
We call it Homestead Beef.
Straight from the pasture to the butcher to the freezer. Mmmmmm!
Yeah, noticed...
550 degrees. Then turn off the oven and count five hours.
This won’t work with one of the newer electric ranges since they exhaust the heat after the oven is turned off.
If you want good mail order steaks, try Allen Brothers. Still pricey, but much better quality. From them you can get actual prime cuts.
Based on the incessant commercials, Omaha Steaks is queer food
