To: Red Badger

I had GBS when I was 21 as the result of an upper respiratory infection involving some type of virus, that was before flu vaccines were common. Took me about 6 months to be able to walk at all, about a year before I was steady on my feet and several years before I was close to normal.

I was fortunate to have it at my age, because the very young and older people have a tougher time recovering. Physical therapy is tough when you’re so weak, I couldn’t even lift a tall glass of ice tea for several months. However, physical therapy does work miracles in the case of GBS for most people, it’s just very rough when you’re having to do it.
