Of all the things that Lauren Herington remembers about her year as an NBA dancer, its the broom closet that rattles her most. My coach would make me sit in there before games and think about if I was doing everything to be able to lose weight, Lauren, a dancer for the Milwaukee Bucks from 2013 to 2014, recalls for Yahoo Lifestyle. You know, basically like a child in time-out. When her coach thought she looked questionable weight-wise, Lauren says, shed instruct the dancer to put on her spandex uniform in order to perform a jiggle test in front of the team. Shed come up and grab underneath my butt or the side of my belly, Lauren, then 18, remembers. Shed be like, Lose 5 pounds by tomorrow, and youll be fine.

I don’t always succeed, but I try.
No one wants to watch fat women dancing at a basketball game any more than watching out of shape basketball players.
A big part of the job is to stay fit. It’s about athleticism.
How is this difficult to understand?
In a nation dominated by fatness, fit and attractive young women are a pleasant change of pace.
