you know....a while back...and it was admittedly a long time ago, I read an article in The Atlantic which said that linguists were closing in on the theory that there once was a single human language, and then very rapidly, perhaps due to some sort of cataclysm, that language spread from the Middle East to all parts of the earth and became, again, quickly, distinct languages.
I was shocked that they were closing in on the Babel account, and what was even more depressing, was that they didn’t make an offhanded cultural remark to the Biblical “myth” even just as a cultural reference. I found that surprising and sort of assumed that the author was not even aware of the Biblical account.
Now having said all that....I do not know if that is the current thinking among linguists, and I do not know if that particular theory advanced very far. I don’t follow this stuff closely.
But it was interesting.
The Genesis story of creation may turn out to be more accurate than the “educated” eggheads want to admit. The timelines are different but the events seem to be following a biblical pattern. Intelligent design is far more logical than the theory of evolution. The odds on the evolution theory take more faith to believe than a creationist I would think.
Want to really watch heads explode, just for fun suggest it was aliens who created the catastrophic event to correct deviations in their experiment.
I just recently watched a show, Im guessing on The Hitler Channel, featuring a researcher that works on the remains of the real tower. You should watch for it to rerun, it was pretty good. He goes into the engineer and shows recreations based on evidence left, ruins of similar structures, and documentation from the time.
Sorry, meant “engineerING”, it wasnt weird archaeologist porn as my post suggests. LOL
Not surprising: deliberate. Never admit anything.
They once categorically denounced the Bible’s historicity because the Hittite Empire was a complete myth.
Then they discovered Hattushah, its capital city,... and it was just on to the next pretext to categorically denounce the historicity of the Bible.
SOP.
