Until the Almighty levels the place with a direct hit from a Cat 5 hurricane it isn’t news.

...toilet paper, bread and milk were gone within an hour ...

LOL. That still happens?

"It’s also very difficult to predict weather here."

Weather is unpredictable but climate change is settled. Anyway, why don't we just allow the weather/climate to chose to identify itself as it, "feels"?

I think that’s what weather usually does ;-)

Always stock up on milk, bread, and toilet paper. And if they are out of toilet paper?... buy more bread.

Yep. Another time when bad weather threatened, my grandson was manning the push broom through the Safeway aisles when some guy walked up, got in his face and barked "Flashlights!".

Grandson politely said "I don't think we have flashlights, sir, but if we do, they'd be by batteries. Here, let me take you there, over in aisle..." but before he could finish, the guy stormed off on his own. Shaking his head, grandson went back to sweeping the floor.

A little later, the guy stormed back to where he was sweeping, and yelled "You people ought to do a better job of stocking the things people need!" And stomped out of the store.

Some people ought to switch to decaf when a few snowflakes start falling, I guess.

Believe it or not. They are terrified of the weather here.

Absolutely terrified. I can probably go to the grocery store and see shortages of bread, milk and toilet paper.

The mere threat of snow causes school closures.

Those people would be like that no matter what little wrench fell into their works. Some just live in constant readiness to become angry over anything.

A few years ago, the Wall Street Journal called a bunch of school districts nationwide to ask at what temperature they kept kids inside during recess. The results were humorous.

The two I remember were:

Baltimore-40 degrees
Minneapolis-Why would we keep kids indoors for recess?

Hell, half the drivers in DC now were herding goats and driving camels this time last year

And the natives aren’t much better at driving. Cellphones behind the wheel are driving me nuts.

Yeah snow is rare in DC in November/December. There was a huge snowstorm in the DC area in November 1987. Not too many more since.

I graduated from OCS in Quantico in 1989 and was the last plane out of what is now Reagan National due to a snowstorm that hit the east coast. Flight connected in Atlanta and had to layover due to Atlanta International closing during the same storm.

There was also a rather large snowstorm that November that our Company Commander allowed us to have a snowball fight in just prior to Company PT.

My God! Just look at Snowpocalypse III. Those poor, poor people. I hope they had enough warning to clear out the shelves at the local grocery store. Why hasn't Trump called out FEMA yet? Impeach!!

Checking my email frequently...we have rec b’ball Thursday evenings at the high school; sometimes they cancel evening activities based on weather reports. Which are wrong about half of the time.
