KANSAS CITY, Mo. Court records say a slain woman had an order of protection against the man charged with killing her in her pocket when her body was found in Kansas City.
The Kansas City Star reports that Gene Birdsong, 42, of Kansas City, Kan., was charged Thursday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Tabitha Birdsong, 40. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Get a gun because an order of protection is just a piece of paper.

Too bad she didn’t have something a bit more intimidating in her pocket.

Get a gun because an order of protection is just a piece of paper. They should print them on Kevlar.

Now, if she was found in Kansas City MISSOURI then it’s a different story. Should have needed CCW.
I can’t read the story because of their pop-up.

But the United Nations tells us self-protection is bad.
And we should all listen to what the United Nations tells us to do.

“”” the man charged with killing her in her pocket”””
Forget about shooting someone in the chest.
The pocket is much more vulnerable.

I believe ALL Citizens can carry. To any extent they so desire: 2A.
Now, we wish to debate ‘legal’ vs. Constitutional, her ‘outcome’ was via the former, when she should have the latter...for all the good the ‘law’ did her.

You’d think someone with the last name of ‘Birdsong’ would be a nicer fella!
Prayers up for his victim. I’m sorry she didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t see fit to protect herself better from this lunatic, but it is what it is. Same old, same old, unfortunately. :(

People need to realize that restraining orders are not printed on bulletproof paper.

A clicked on a link in the story and found the perp’s mug shot.
White guy, looks like a prematurely aged 40 year old meth head, and looks like he is completely at home back in jail.
I was going to post the photo, but now it's disappeared behind a pay wall.

Horrible, prayers to you oh Lord for her soul...

1) Cops: “We can’t do anything until after he kills you.” 2) She’s packing: Would she finish him off for good if she was threatened? I think not. I doubt any prosecutor would charge her. She’s screwed either way.

It was protection for Tabitha in writing, signed by a judge giving her the legal right to shoot the son of a bitch if he tried it again.
Without steel backing it up, though, it's just a piece of paper.
