“Spring assisted tactical knife” is the phrase you might be looking for. I favor Kershaw, especially anything designed by Ken Onion. Google those together.

I have several knives made by Chris Reeve. My favorite is the "Sebenza" pocket folder. It has been in my pocket now for 10 years. Knives by a real craftsman, made in the good old US of A.

It’s not assisted, but it’s a flipper with a ball bearing pivot, so the blade deploys really well. Titanium scales, 3.5” blade, framelock, and barely makes your price range. I don’t own one, but my best non-assisted flipper does as well as my assisted knives.

For the assisted opening type knives I’ve always preferred the type Spyderco calls a “Flipper”. This has a protrusion that you “flip” with your index finger such as the Advocate or Hanan.
If there’s a chance of getting “stabby” then a good guard is nice so your hand doesn’t slip. On some knives the flipper will double as a guard.
