More Voters Than I've Ever Seen
Personal Observation | 6 Nov 2018 | Steely Tom

Posted on 11/06/2018 7:44:13 AM PST by Steely Tom

Just voted, 10:30 east cost time, upstate New York.

The voting place was almost crowded, at least 20 people were voting when I walked in. There was a line at the machine.

I've never seen so many people there. I usually vote in the mid-morning..

I wonder how many of them voted in Florida, too.

Yup. I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes. In line now. This is nuts. Line out the back door. Parking lot overflowing.

Upstate is the conservative part of the state. Those shenanigans go on in the cities.

Nah, conservative area.

Even on Staten Island, my wife went to vote at about 8am.

She said she was number 85.

She recalls last midterms being only about number 5 at that time.

And there are VERY FEW liberals in this neighborhood or voting district.

I don’t know that I’ve voted at this time of day at this polling place for an off-year election today, so I’m not in a good spot to judge. Also, our forecast here is for bad rain after 11. But I did here callers into CT public radio claiming much heavier than usual turnout.

I voted this morning in Georgia; longest lines I have seen since the 2008 general election. I was in line for over an hour.

Same here. (Michigan) Never been like this in midterms. I do not recall waiting in line for presidential.

Wonder what it means...

Also, I’ve lived in MA and NY previously, where even the liberals helped to vote in (mild) Republicans as gov when they knew their own tendencies had taken their states to the edge. I’m wondering whether CT might be in a similar situation now. They know they need an intervention, even though we aren’t even legitimately a purple state anymore.

I just posted a very similar observation to yours on another thread. ______________________

Just got back from voting in a mostly red polling place in upstate NY. District has a competitive house seat. We went mid-morning to try to avoid the biggest crowds.

Very busy! Not much of a line - but lots of people milling around the room and in the ballot kiosks. Seemed to be as busy or more so than I recall in 2016.

My county set a record for early voting, and when I voted about two hours ago there as steady stream of people coming and going. I think Indiana will have a new US Senator.

That’s what I experienced early voting in Las Vegas on Friday. Had to wait a half hour in a long line out the door of the grocery store just to get to the check in table.

My area is a more conservative, two parents and kids area of the city.

I voted on a saturday, was in line at 6:30 and the line doubled by 7am. Don’t know when the line started.

That was Texas.
