While all fandoms (or even groups of people in general) attract bigotry and unsavory people, Star Wars has taken the cake, especially after the release of The Last Jedi. Whether it’s a response to increased diversity or just the sci-fi fandom iteration of our society’s growing pains into the digital age, toxicity in Star Wars fandom has taken an interesting center stage in conversations about media and even politics. But while some try to parse out why Russian bots were involved in the vocal backlash to The Last Jedi, or why Lucasfilm hasn’t done anything about it, a group of fans on Twitter took another approach .A year ago today, I, along with several other Star Wars fans, podcasters, and writers, started a hashtag called #SWRepMatters.

Solo was a really good movie. It was boycotted by fans who didn’t like The Last Jedi. Too bad, it was fun. SW fans shooting themselves in the foot.

3rd movie was too sugar coated for me.
4th was better but not nearly as good as the first two.
5th was absolutely boring, so much so I wouldn’t see the 6th.
I went with a friend to the 7th one (Is that one The Last Jedi?) Where Han Solo dies? That was tasteless.
If people gag on having liberal politics crammed down their throats, demonize them for having throats too small.
“The Last Jedi” and “Solo” both sucked. That’s why they tanked at the box office. What a surprise that the SJW hacks behind them are now crying “racism!”
It is possible to interject “political correctness” and “diversity” into a movie or TV series and still have it be entertaining and successful, but this requires skill and artistry. Gene Roddenberry could do it, Kathleen Kennedy sure as hell can’t.
So I have to ask, Who cares?
Just grow up, get a job and act like a real thinking person. Doing this will really surprise you. Actual thinking and doing ANYTHING yourself may makr you into a real person rather than just a meme.
$4B Disney paid for the Star Wars franchise. They need to recover $4B just to break even with the cost of acquiring the movie rights. Disney lost $50M on “Solo”.
Now Disney is up to its neck in SJW vita signaling working about racial quotas, LGBLSMFT quotas, disabled quotas, and every other social marxism concern. Meanwhile, it looks like they forgot something sort of important to a good successful movie. A good story.
