They actually do have a regular prison with 1,000 beds.
But the “Reception Center” has 5,000 beds and is definitely short term.
I'll guess they need to do some hard thinking about where to put Suge Knight.
He might be a prime target for Hispanic or White gangs, plus he has a personal history of violent behavior, plus he has outside money which might make him a target for extortion, or, the opposite, paying out bribes for special treatment, plus he's 53 and clearly overweight, so there might be health issues, too.
For a certainty, his personal history will be taken into account r.e. housing determination but after all that, he’s just another inmate st that point.
