And the worst thing of all are those ads Fox is showing before each at-bat.
How long before they start doing the same thing during every huddle in a football game?
Also the Red Sox aren’t the “lovable losers” anymore.
That’s what happens when MLB FORCES these two teams into the World Series! People KNOW fake when they see it!
The games run late. They drag. Too many pitching changes and calls being reviewed.
These days I only watch Golf ,everything is sooo Green
2 liberal hotbed cities that middle America could care less about. I hope both teams lose.
Those posters are very cool.
That's a pretty broad (an inaccurate) statement. It's the "never has been" that is inaccurate. Baseball is/was not called "our national pastime" for nothing. There was a time when the entire nation was entranced by the World Series. There weren't nearly as many teams as there are now, so people followed whatever team they wanted.
However, today I think you are correct. Sports have become local. At least for me they have. I only follow the local MLB team (Houston Astros).I don't know how many of the 162 games I watched, but it was a huge number. However, once the Astros were eliminated in the ALCS, the season ended for me.
As a life-long Yankee fan, the thought of a Red Sox-Dodger World Series is an abomination.
Bingo.
I’m not watching either.
Can’t stand Boston, city or their teams.
Exactly. Those damn ads just make me switch the channel.
Take your “and now a quick word” and shove it.
I’m out of here.
No World Series has averaged even 20 million viewers since 2004. In the 1980s, the World Series regularly averaged 35 million viewers. In the 1970s, arguably the heyday for baseball, it was over 40 million with a much smaller population in the USA.
At least so far. Of course, there has only been one series between them before.
They showed a 102-year-old woman at the game on Wednesday who was a baby the last time the Red Sox played the Dodgers. Good thing she went to that game because there may not be a Game Six.
Um I think they are covers of the game programs/scorecards for each team the only other time they met in the World Series from 1916.
There’s just no narrative. With the curse long broken the Red Sox aren’t interesting. The Dodgers have never been interesting. Nothing to draw in the casual championship only viewers.
Game three is tonight.
And baseball today lacks larger-than-life characters - more so than any other major sport. Where is a Reggie Jackson or a Nolan Ryan or a George Brett?
Yeah. I checked after watching that. Why so late in the year? When did they start that?
Actually this one is pretty early. Started going into November a good decade ago.
Yasiel Puig could be. But happiness has become against the unwritten rules so they keep stomping him down.
