It seems like this World Series matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers isnt the ratings draw MLB was hoping it would be. The ratings for both Games 1 and 2 are down from their 2017 counterparts, and represent the lowest ratings for those games in at least three years.
According to Sports Media Watch, Tuesdays Game 1, played at 8 p.m. ET local time at Fenway Park, came in at an 8.2 rating and 13.76 million viewers. Thats a 6 percent drop in ratings and an 8 percent drop in viewers from 2017s Game 1 between the Houston Astros and the Dodgers.

I thought the series was a couple months ago.
The series is a foregone conclusion.
The Red Sox are just too darn good this year.
It’s just not that fun for anyone else....
Politics is taking all the air out of other diversions that have no real meaning to anything except entertainment and most of America is focussed (even the lamestream) on the invasion from the south and the upcoming election.
President Trump and Republicans are living rent free in the heads of all liberals and commies and THEY make up a pretty good percentage of all media.
I'm gettin' FAT on butter slathered, slightly salted popcorn !
It’s hockey season!
Baseball isn’t and has never been a national sport. Ratings wise, it’s very local and market specific. I’m sure ratings are through the roof in LA and Boston. The problem is, the games start too late. That’s always an issue, but it will never be fixed.
I’m a big baseball fan. Play keeper fantasy baseball for 20 years now. Haven’t watched a single inning. Won’t. I’m just not that interested.

Im a huge baseball fan, but its obvious the game doesnt have the mass appeal it once had. Its the only one of the three major sports in America that shows respect to our flag and the national anthem!
Low ratings because its gonna be a 4 game sweep. Boston is the better team all the way around. Its like theyre playing a Little League team.
Hate the Sox. Highly dislike those Trolly Dodgers.
Still watch the games. Some incredible plays. You dont see that kind of energy in regular season play.
Big plus everyone stands for the National Anthem!
Ratings boom? Not in flyover country.
4-5-6. Hate the Sox but theyre that good this year. I see the Dodgers getting some fan support at home. But that will amount to maybe 1 win.
The National League is just not as good as the American League. The Sox beat Houston like they were AAA. LA is AA.
Game One had a 36 share in the Boston market. The fact is the games come on too late, last too long between pitching changes and commercials. Fox didn’t even show who threw out the first pitch. Game One was over at 12:30. Games Two at 11:30 East coast time.
Sox in 5.
NH Red Sox Fan
Even though Colorado is an NL team, I’m rooting for the RED Sox, as a precursor for the mid-term elections.
The younger crowd is going into computer games. A few years ago when Halo 3 came out for Xbox, 1st day sales were more than total ticket sales for the NY Yankees (Over 3 million attendance that year). Since then, many users have moved to computer games which are much more sophisticated, interactive, and entertaining.
I used to use sports on TV as background while I did something else but now I just listen to music. I got tired of the dominance of PC, race, sex, gun control, environmentalism, etc impacting the broadcasts.
If I was going to concentrate on one item, I would rather play a computer game than watch sports but I really don’t have time for either.
As a Sox fan I really enjoyed the ALCS. Each game was like watching a defensive highlight reel. Houston’s third baseman Alex Bregman made multiple run saving plays. He was incredible to watch.
One of my buddies got our office tickets to game one at Fenway. He took his sons. When they left at the end of the game the fans outside on Yawkee Way were chanting “AROD” so loud you could hear it three blocks away with the windows up. AROD was trying to do the post game commentary outside on Yawkee Way for Fox Sports. You could hardly hear him on TV because the fans were so loud.
Who would have guessed that?
Here’s the problem: the Dodgers’ over-reliance on analytics is hurting their chances. If they lose again tonight, they’re done.
