A Texas man grew so frustrated over receiving text messages from the U.S. Senate campaign of U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, that he's taking the organization to court.

A class-action lawsuit filed against the Beto for Texas campaign on behalf of all Texans alleges the group sent text messages to voters without obtaining permission to contact them, therefore violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

The law bans the use of automated telephone equipment to send texts or calls to a person’s cellphone without their permission -- except for emergency purposes.

The suit was filed in Northen District of Texas Court and names Collin County resident Sameer Syeed as the plaintiff.

I have been getting texts from Newt Gingrich, Tom Cotton and a host of get-out-the-vote groups.

Oh, and I recently got a phone poll, which I answered. It was hideously biased in favor of Ron DeSantis. I kept saying “I have already voted for Ron DeSantis.” But I let the young lady read every question as it’s her job and I thought perhaps she was being paid by the call. It did nothing for my view on political polling, however. (It occurred to me that rather than a poll that the “poll” was a cover for a political pitch. If it had been for Gillum, I’d have hung up.)

I think candidates are permitted to cold call people (as are surveys and “non-profits”) but spammers can’t text you.

You can also put your phone number on the “do not disturb” call list.

And refusal to stop is probably a violation.

Wonder if we can make this a class action lawsuit?

This will have no effect on the election, so we might as well hammer on that $60 million that he raised from the Left Coasts.
