Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian) written by John D. Loudermilk. Made famous by Paul Revere and the Raiders.
Life imitates art (yes you can make this up)!
From Wikipedia;
Loudermilk spun the tale that a Cherokee chieftain, "Bloody Bear Tooth" asked him to make a song about his people's plight on the Trail of Tears, even going so far as to claim that he had later been awarded "the first medal of the Cherokee Nation", not for writing the song, but for his "blood". He went on to fabricate the detail that on that day the tribe revealed that his "great-great grandparents, Homer and Matilda Loudermilk" were listed on the Dawes Rolls

John D. Loudermilk, was super great writer. He wrote “ A Rose and A Baby Ruth”.... “Abiline”... and he and Chet Atkins wrote “Windy and Warm”.
And this tribute to private property against the ALMIGHTY Tenn. Valley Assoc. land theft by FDR!! : Ma Baker’s Little Acre

Cher recorded the Song “Half Breed”.
People actually thought she was Native American because of her looks, probably because of her high Cheek Bones.
She has said that she has Cherokee Lineage from her Mother’s side, but I think it might just be a Lieawatha thing.

Oh yes— indeed. They tore down the shack he lived in near the Bull Durham plant (American Tobacco/The Dukes) in durham, nc.= to make a freeway ramp. He didn’t miss it. Moved to Elloree.
Very interesting writer and character... real America. Real South.

Yep, her Father was Armenian but her Mother was just another White Woman who MAY have had some Cherokee Blood in her.

Oh my LOL, that is so politically incorrect, BUT love that song too. Cher was hot back in the day. You have to give the devil her due.
How about this one? This is the keystone of rap.

Cher is completely insane, but she was beautiful - four or five decades ago.

To prove she could sing with restraint: She was background for the Wall of Sound:
You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling.
Be My Baby.
Two of the greatest of all time. Brian Wilson used to listen to the latter on 45 replay over and over.

She’s Armenian— both parents. That had to have been some music marketer with the”half breed” approach. Like marketing a jet black Calcutta Indian as... a “soul artist”. This is what the music biz morons do... and still today. See: Taylor Swift as a “country” artist— who is a middle america Valley girl.
