I think you’re “hosed”.

Protonmail looks really nice. I might get that to add another email account.

I currently purchase Office 365 “Exchange Only” from Microsoft for my family. I registered a personal domain and it costs me $4/month per mailbox. I get all the same business features (Exchange mail, calendar, etc.) that corporations get and as it’s not a “free” service, I don’t see any ads.

I’ve never taken a liking to how Gmail’s user interface is set up. I use Outlook and before that — many moons ago — Eudora for email.

Google makes too many changes. They’re out of control.

I always found Gmail terrible at UI. so I never used it. Outlook.com needs to get rid of filtered inbox and it works great.

your best bet is to install an email client like thunderbird and configure it for imap access to your gmail and they you can avoid the gmail web interface altogether ..

the trickiest part in doing all of that is to disable two-factor authentication and enable access by “less secure” applications in the settings of your gmail account on the google mail server. also, on thunderbird, do manual configuration and change the authentication method from oauth to normal password ...

Take a look at the page code.

All that would show is google using FReep and the unsuspecting. That does not translate into ME using google. I strip as much of it as humanly possible, ghostery/trackmenot/adblocker/scriptblocker(s)(forget which). As payback, I also hammer google/yahoo/bing with meaningless search queries every 10 seconds that my browser is open with trackmenot. It's currently 'searching' them for 'gert'. I'm not sure how much of their resources get used by me and others every 10 seconds or so but it gives me the jollies to do it, I think I cost them more than they'll ever get from me! Now they are searching for 'une'...see what I mean? If they get anything from me, it's gibberish. There goes a good one - 'gold' - I bet that hit 'em for a few million returns!

I do not like Google analytics. I also block it, “No Script”, uBlock, Ad Block, other ways, etc, even via DNS, depending on the platform.
