Seven year old Malea Emma sings the National Anthem at LA Galaxy game. Has the full range - not totally traditional but doesn't change it too much.

A tad bit of bravado, reminiscent of the great Kate Smith.

:)

Isn’t it funny that foreign athletes are more respectful of our anthem than our own homegrown athletes?

Another poster on a thread about a comment on a restaurant receipt wrote about what becomes news these days.

This is right up there with it.

Yes, its patriotic and cute. But its not news. (Not meant to be a comment about you, Pollard...but abnout news in general.)

I posted it in;

TOPICS: Music/Entertainment; Sports;

News/Current Events is another “Topic” here on FR but naturally I didn’t put it there.

Didn’t see anyone kneeling at this sporting event which HAS been in the news.

It was something Laura Ingraham had “liked” on twitter. Hey, she does the news so it’s sorta almost not really kinda news. LOL

I mostly posted it because it’s been a helluva couple of weeks in the news and we could all use a little something to make us smile for a minute.

It’s been all Kavanaugh all the time for days now. Must be over 100 threads.

I actually have a knot in my throat and tears in my eyes. I usually don’t react like that to music, but Great God in Heaven, that girl is good.

Oh, no. Please don’t take it personally.

I understand taking a break from the crap.

It’s funny, my SIL came back from his deployment in Africa. He said one day he was watching CNN with a bunch of senior officers from a number of different countries. CNN was doing a story about a bunch of people saving a squirrel caught in a storm drain or something. Some of those watching were wondering how all these people were going to share the squirrel—it was so small and there was not much meat.

He said at that moment he understood America and it’s media a lot better!

I wasn’t taking personally.

Speaking of tree rats, I’m out here in the Ozarks and my neighbor up the road regularly asks my if I’ve seen any squirrels lately. He doesn’t have any because he ate them all.

I’m in an area where the bottom dropped out in the late 1800s. Iron ore was the big thing then but the mines weren’t putting out as much as they had and they ran out of trees for smelting fuel. The population is lower here than it was in 1900 and the ones that stayed ate what they could hunt.
