The Bundeswehr? Cripes, they have a union! Like the Red Army’s political commissars, who the hell would trust them?
Canada below Algeria? Really?
Canada below Algeria? Really?
There’s another Trudeau running the country
They left out Wisconsin hunters. Aren’t they like the 8th largest army in the world?
and Israel no longer capable of defeating the Egyptians? Who made this list? The PLO?
I was lead to believe North Korea had some huge military ready to trounce South Korea. The article lists South Korea as 7th and North Korea as 16th. Then what the hell is South Korea worried about. I mean, if China enters for the North, that is the beginning of WW III so I just don’t see it.
Yes, I was expecting Israel to be way higher. They are one of the best trained, best lead military in the world.
Cant take this kind of stuff too seriously. Remember when Iraq was the fifth largest army in the world? “It will be a meat grinder. A never ending war, a quagmire we cant ever leave, worse than Vietnam. The armor of the Republican Guard will...” Their military was nothing more than a fart in a windstorm.
Long hair and scraggly beards, smokin hash, and wearing duffel bags. This aint their granddads army.
> Canada below Algeria? Really? <
There’s quantity, and there’s quality. But Algeria has around 1200 main battle tanks. That’s three times more than Canada and the UK combined.
That power index is a really stupid formula.
The fact is, only nations with global destruction capability are the superpowers, and that’s Russia and the US.
Something like that, I had at one point seen a number of similar articles. IIRC, Pennsylvania “was invaded by the worlds 6th largest army every fall.”
No one counted the citizen army of Texas, millions of guns and boys who have killed their first deer by the age of 10.
Sounds right to me.
Navy:
4 troublesome submarines that the Canadians bought used from the Brits after the Pakistanis rejected the offer. (Algeria, 6 subs)
Canadians 12 Frigates to patrol 200,000 miles of coastline. Algeria 3 Frigates for about 1,000 km.
etc
Canadian army 43,000 (23,000 regulars)
Algerian army 920,000 (520,000 active)
Canadian Air force 14,500 active, 2,600 reserve 76 combat aircraft in service. (Another 62 that aren't).
Algerian 14,000. 126 combat aircraft.
Thanks for posting this.
The Toronto Police Force is larger than the Canadian Army. The Deputy Commanding General of III Corps at Ft. Hood, TX is usually a Canadian officer. Find one of them and asks him to give you a frank assessment of the Canadian Forces capability. Their politicians have turned their military into a peacekeeping and humanitarian support force.
They performed well in real combat in Afghanistan, but when their politicians discovered that the enemy was shooting back, they pulled their brigade out.
Iran #13, thought they would be lower?
For it’s size, Israel’s military isn’t too shabby. It should be right up there with the US.
Great beer and brat allotment!
