When I had DirectTV, I just excluded CNN, as well as MSNBC from my list of favorites using the remote. With the new provider in a new city, I just don’t bother on clicking on it.

You get my point, of course. You can always cancel. But I’d rather keep my wife happy.
Just block the channel carrying CNN. And write a letter requesting not to be billed for it. Who knows? If enough folks do so, maybe they’ll make dropping it an option.
Why aren’t you asking your cable company that?
