No Ian Gillan (I’m surprised too) but Morrisson and Jagger made it.
Like
And Phil Collins.
All made the list except Steve Perry from Journey.
Actually it was before he would go on stage, paid in cash. He mostly toured in a late model caddy, with his guitar and amp in the trunk.
I grew up in the 80s. The single best thing that ever happened was classic rock radio. It introduced those of us who were babies when Led Zepplin were making their music.
The same with the Eagles, and so many other great bands.
thank you for that post. Honestly, I haven’t listened to much Rush. But I love that video. I love how he frames it all within the context of art....and life.
I love also his maximalist aesthetic. The minimalist aesthetic has its virtues; simplicity is revealing. But so is complexity! Wagner knew this. I guess Rush does also..
.
All of which reminds me. Neal Peart (sp?) is apparently a very, very good writer. A few years ago, I believe he wrote a highly acclaimed travelogue/memoir, that if I’m not mistaken, sadly included reflections on death.
All of which is to say, I think these guys are true artists and I love that.
Thanks again for that post.
Definitely Buddy Holly.
Benjamin Orr from the Cars. Lou Graham.
I don’t think they appreciated hard rock or metal much. DLR and Freddy Mercury made it. No Ozzy, no Bruce Dickenson, no Rob Halford, no Ian Gillan.
David Lee Roth is a Prima Donna. I cant say what I really think of him and his messed up antics on this forum but he makes me want to throw up. I really hate that man.
70s rock was the best. I listen to it on Sirius all the time. Takes me back as a little kid. I know all the words to the songs.
Great music.
Mylon Lefevre (Mylon and Broken Heart), Greg X. Volz (Petra), John Schlitt (Petra), and Michael Drive (Barren Cross).
All the classic rock countdowns in the 80s, had Robert Plant as #1 and Paul Rogers at #2.
Those countdowns came from listeners and it never changed. Every countdown had them together. I agreed.
Damn straight!
Always believed plant was the greatest but bruce dickinson really doesnt get the eecognition he deserves. Giys got an inceedible range, great entertainer live and overall a really interesting person
Supposedly the list was frontmen for a Rock band but they did include a few singles without including some of the greats singles of all time. To me a frontman that should have been in the top thirty was Danny Joe Brown of Molly Hatchet.
Saw judas priest just a few years ago and rob halford can still hit every note he could 30 years ago....really amazing
I know. Even the last album and tour he sounded damn good!
Vote for David Lee Roth as well. He was exactly what a frontman should be.
