I just don’t see why anyone would go see a movie so narrowly focused to one ethnic group like this. Even people in that ethnic group. It just seems stupid and not something that a wide audience would go see.
Some themes are universal. Good stories with universal themes, the different cultures and countries can make things more interesting to watch.
But you need great stories.
Caught some foreign stuff lately: a Scandinavian disaster flick, an Icelandic police procedural series, an Eastern European vamp movie, and an Indian police procedural series. All were excellent. And way better than the vast majority of the cr@p the US is cranking out.
If I don’t, I suppose I’m racist, right?
And all genius is madness of a sort. That’s how rich happens.
Even beauty is genius, and a sort that everyone can benefit from vicariously.
Similarly, I had zip interest in somebody’s Greek wedding, regardless of how big or fat it might be.
